FORENSIC LOCKSMITHING I, II, III- Introduction to Investigative Locksmithing. History of, value to the consumer and law enforcement, and who is involved in this profession. Photos and slides of various locks, pins, and wafers which have been picked or subjected to impressioning will be shown. A list and display of Investigative/Forensic Locksmith tools of the trade will be shared. Discussion of the standards for Forensic Locksmiths and Code of Ethics. Discussion and instruction in crime scene searches, preservation of evidence, documentation of the scene, chain of custody of evidence and proper handling and packaging of evidence for transmittal. Instruction in effectively working with law enforcement officials and insurance investigators. An introduction to investigative photography will be conducted. Several "tricks of the trade" and covert entry techniques will be discussed and explained.
HARDWARE FORENSICS- A discussion on hardware types and specifications. Concluding with methods of bypass and how to forensically identify the method of bypass.
AFTERMARKET ALARM SYSTEMS- A discussion of the latest aftermarket alarm systems and how they work.
REPORT WRITING- A discussion covering the basics needed to write a report.
AUTO THEFT AND ARSON- Auto Theft, Arson & Forensic Examinations. Covers theft techniques, lock bypass methods, transponder systems, conducting examinations, wear pattern analysis, vehicle theft and fires, and recovering lock components from burned vehicles. Bypassing of some transponder and MRD systems. The attendee will be fully versed in all aspects of automotive forensic locksmithing.
FORENSIC PHOTOGRAPHY- Basic and advanced techniques used in forensic examinations.
PRACTICAL INVESTIGATIONS- A class covering the beginning to end of an examination. This course is hands on. The student will evaluate the evidence and write a report preparing for a court trial.
TOOL MARK IDENTIFICATION LOCK & KEY WEAR ANALYSIS- A class covering the tool marks to locks and the evaluation of the locks and keys using microscope.
AUTO THEFT FORENSIC EXAMINATIONS & EVIDENCE, "WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW"- A discussion concerning the handling and the preservation of evidence.
METHODS OF ENTRY- A short seminar on some of the most common by-pass techniques used to illegally enter a facility. You will learn the techniques, the marks that are left and how to investigate and look for those marks.
